Compressor (advies)

drawmer is ook erg lekker.. heb zelf de dl231 ..
kan erg pompen, ook voor de warmte is die erg ok !
focusrite green4 ook een aanrader

20 jaar later,

Ik krijg de DRAWMER DL231 morgen binnen. Heel benieuwd, redelijk ingelezen.. ga mn buizen Eq als sidechain inzetten en weer ouderwets compresse.

FET-style Compressor: Both the Pulsar 1178 and Drawmer DL231 are FET-style compressors, which means they use Field-Effect Transistors to control the gain reduction.
Stereo Operation: Both compressors are designed for stereo operation, allowing you to process multiple channels simultaneously.
Character and Versatility: Both compressors are known for their unique character and versatility, making them suitable for a wide range of applications, from music production to post-production.
Inspiration from Classic Compressors: The Pulsar 1178 is inspired by the legendary Urei/UA 1178, while the Drawmer DL231 is loosely inspired by the Urei/UA 1178 as well.
Saturation and EQ: Both compressors feature saturation and EQ capabilities, allowing you to add warmth and tone to your audio.
Sidechain Processing: Both compressors offer sidechain processing, which enables you to use the compressor as a dynamic equalizer, allowing you to control the tone and dynamics of your audio.

The expander in the DL231 is a noise gate that can be used to reduce unwanted noise and hum in your audio signal. It works by dynamically adjusting the threshold and ratio to minimize the noise floor and maintain a consistent signal level.
Set the threshold correctly: The threshold sets the level at which the expander begins to reduce the noise. Start by setting the threshold to a relatively high level and adjust it downward until you achieve the desired result. Be careful not to set it too low, as this can cause the expander to choke the signal and introduce artifacts.
Adjust the ratio: The ratio determines how much the expander reduces the signal level when the threshold is exceeded. A higher ratio will result in a more aggressive noise reduction, while a lower ratio will provide a more subtle effect. Experiment with different ratios to find the one that works best for your specific application.
Use the sidechain input: The sidechain input allows you to use an external signal to control the expander. This can be useful for situations where you need to reduce noise or hum that is present in a specific frequency range. For example, you can use the sidechain input to reduce low-end rumble or high-end hiss.
Use the expander in conjunction with the compressor: The expander and compressor in the DL231 can be used together to create a dynamic range compressor. This can be useful for maintaining a consistent signal level and reducing dynamic range.Experiment with different attack and release times: The attack and release times of the expander can be adjusted to fine-tune the noise reduction. A faster attack time will result in a more aggressive noise reduction, while a slower release time will provide a more gradual recovery.
Monitor the signal: It’s essential to monitor the signal and adjust the expander settings accordingly. Use a meter or a frequency analyzer to monitor the signal level and frequency response, and make adjustments as needed.
