Announcing Focusrite Liquid Mix
A Revolutionary Liquid Multi-channel Firewire Mix Processor
Liquid Mix’s onboard DSP hosts 32 classic EQs and 32 vintage compressors simultaneously in the mix – an impossible task to achieve with your computer’s CPU alone.
Each of Liquid Mix’s 32 channels provides Compressor and EQ emulations selected from a huge pool of high-quality vintage and modern day classics. 40 Compressors and 20 EQs are available straight out of the box, with an expanding library online. Furthermore, a totally unique hybrid 7-band ‘super EQ’ can be built out of separate classic EQ sections in every one of the 32 channels. Each channel appears as a separate VST/AU/RTAS effect within the sequencer and will work within all major applications, including Pro Tools.
Liquid Mix uses the same patented Dynamic Convolution process as Focusrite’s Liquid Channel. Unlike standard convolution techniques, Dynamic Convolution utilizes vast processing power to sample the effect of a classic processor on a series of audio pulses, at many different gain settings and frequencies. In Liquid Mix, all this processing is done using onboard DSP, so the processing has almost no effect on your computer’s own CPU.
Liquid Mix’s DSP is housed within an elegant desktop control solution and connects to the computer via Firewire, which also provides bus-powering. The physical metering, screen, rotary controls and buttons on the hardware help to provide a tactile ergonomic solution, placing the sounds of an array of high quality vintage processors at your fingertips. You can choose to control each channel either from the desktop control unit, or from within the sequencer, using a simple GUI that functions exactly like a plug-in.
An optional expansion card is available for Liquid Mix, allowing users to increase the number of available channels at higher sample rates (sold separately). The card is quick and easy to install and fits neatly into the underside of the unit.
The original Liquid Channel won a plethora of awards, and has been a worldwide hit in the audio production world, from project studios to post production and broadcast facilities, not to mention the Live arena. Liquid Mix complements the original, delivering dynamic convolution for use in the mix. Since The Liquid Channel’s vast, elaborate and expensive analogue mic pre section is not required at mix down, Focusrite has been able to bring Liquid Technology to the masses at a much more accessible price.

Je HOEFT natuurlijk je PC niet up te graden he?

Nee je hoeft niks, maar als er straks weer plugs komen die de max uit je systeem trekken, of je systeem trekt het nu al niet.
Dan ga je weer mee, op 1 of andere manier werkt het zo altijd.
De volgende update komt er dan aan van je seq host, hartstikke gaaf, maar uiteindelijk heb je dan toch weer een upgrade nodig voor je pc.
The neverending cycle.
Simpelste oplossing hiertegen is gewoon hardware.
Of externe dsp spullen met firewire....zolang dat nog bestaat.

Zat daarstraks nog te denken, wat moet er gebeuren met de oude uad kaarten, als pci er uit is.

Bestaan er geen kastjes met een pci bus, met achterop usb of firewire? zodat je je oude kaarten gewoon kunt blijven gebruiken?

Helaas kun je met een pci bus niet zonder computer. De pci bus, en eigenlijk dus heel de kaart, heeft wel een controller nodig en een geheugen en een processor.. Sad, but that's how it works.

Dat is dus heel erg jammer, met andere woorden dan kun je over een jaar of 2-3 je uad kaart dus gewoon bij de vuilnis zetten.

Tja, dit is een bekend gegeven natuurlijk... wil je iets hebben wat lang mee gaat en/of redelijk waardevast is, blijf dan uit de buurt van dingen die je in een PC moet stoppen.

Maar firewire wil ook nog niet echt standaard op alle computers zitten.
De apple's hebben dat soms al niet meer en menig PC ook niet omdat er bezuinigd wordt op onderdelen. (oa die Dell goedkope meukbakken)

Mgoed, een cassette interface voor m'n polaris zal ook nog goed zoeken zijn.
(puur ter illustratie hoor, mp3tjes werkt ook)

Ik dacht dat er in de SoS een review stond met 1 op 1 vergelijkingen met de originele machines .
Die waren geloof ik wel enthousiast ... weet het niet zeker meer .

Simpelste oplossing hiertegen is gewoon hardware.

Nieuwe hardware devalueert natuurlijk ook, misschien iets minder snel dan sommige software. De UAD pci kaart is IMO al redelijk goedkoop(400€), het zou wel leuk zijn moest je je oude kaart later kunnen inleveren voor een nieuwer model tegen verlaagde prijs.

Ik bedoel, de verhouding met de Liquid Channel is ver te zoeken € 3111.00. Zeker als je bedenkt dat je 32 compressors tegelijk kan gebruiken en als je de Liquid Channel hebt maar 1.

en als ie dan voor 75 smurfoos op marktplaats staat,..
Heb ik nog wel een ouwe moededoos of twee waar ik m inprik.

want in de liquid mix krijg je 36 EQ models. En die zitten niet in de liquid channel.

dat zijn namelijk alleen pre-amps en compressors.

anywho...je kunt het beter vergelijken met zo'n Sintefex bak...alhoewel die maar tot maximaal 8 kanalen kan gaan,maar dan kun je wel zelf samples van je eigen favoriete spulletjes laden...

Nja, vind het zowieso nog vaag allemaal.
Al die marketing ben ik zowieso allang niet meer zo van onder de indruk.
En recenties van de bladen ook niet zo.
Denk dat je gewoon naar de prijs moet kijken en dat de beste indicatie is wat hij ongeveer kan.
Kost net zoveel als een UAD/Powercore. Dus qua mogelijkheden zal het wel iets soortgelijks zijn.
En als je hem echt wilt gewoon checken.

Met als leuke paradox natuurlijk dat je wel 32 kanalen hebt maar je er toch een DSP kaart bij kan steken. Maw. als je hem volledig wilt gebruiken mag je die DSP kaart er alsnog bij kopen.

Vind het trouwens dom om die controller erbij te doen. Kost alleen maar meer en als je het toch als plugin gebruikt heb je zoiets helemaal niet nodig.
Of ze komen nog met een versie zonder die controller en een PCI-E kaart?

Sintefex is toch een tijd geleden al overgenomen door Focusrite ?
